KT said on the 9th it released the Genie TV set-top box A2, which features artificial intelligence (AI)-based content search and functions that enhance picture and sound quality.
The new product includes an AI agent based on a large language model (LLM). Even if users do not know the title, they can describe the plot, cast, or the work's mood, and it will find content that matches the conditions. Users can also check information they are curious about by voice while watching. It also reduced cases of mistaking everyday conversation for commands, improving voice recognition accuracy.
AI super-resolution technology upgrades low-quality video to as high as 4K UHD. It converts live broadcast audio into subtitles, adjusts sound according to content genre, and makes dialogue clearer. It also automatically corrects volume differences among live channels, video on demand (VOD), and over-the-top (OTT) services.
The main unit features a circular design measuring 120×120×30 mm and weighing 186 g. With Android TV 14 onboard, users can access various OTT services, and not only new subscribers but also existing customers can switch devices to use it.
With a three-year contract, the standard monthly rental fee is 7,700 won. The care service, which includes set-top box rental, is 5,500 won per month, 79,200 won cheaper over three years than the standard rental. If certain conditions are met, customers can also receive a waiver of the device replacement dispatch fee and support for damage replacement costs.
