National Information Society Agency (NIA) said on the 7th that it will carry out an organizational restructuring to strengthen on-the-ground execution of national artificial intelligence (AI) policy and drive the realization of the "top 3 AI powers."
First, it upgraded the "Artificial Intelligence Government Infrastructure Support Group," which has been exclusively supporting cloud, redundancy, and disaster recovery (DR) build-outs, to the "Artificial Intelligence Government Infrastructure Bureau." It also created an "AI Government Programs Team" within the Artificial Intelligence Government Bureau to support the proactive adoption of AI services in the public institutional sector and the establishment and execution of related national policy tasks.
It also consolidated and reorganized the "Artificial Intelligence Innovation Support Group" under the "Artificial Intelligence Convergence Bureau," concentrating functions related to AX (AI transformation).
Under the Intelligent Technology Infrastructure Bureau, it established the "Agentic AI Innovation Team" to provide specialized support for building an ecosystem where anyone can use AI agents.
The agency also set up a foundation to respond to the three AI mega projects. To support the acquisition and use of high-quality data in the physical AI field, it assigned functions related to physical AI data to the Data Utilization Technology Team.
With this restructuring, NIA's organization expanded from 2 offices, 7 bureaus, 5 groups, and 46 teams to 2 offices, 8 bureaus, 4 groups, and 48 teams.
