KT said on the 6th that it supported 5G-based video control and safety management technologies at the Seoul World Fireworks Festival 2026 held on the 5th.
KT joined as the event's official technology sponsor and applied 5G standalone (SA)-based network slicing technology. The aim was to secure a separate communications network needed for safety management even when large crowds gathered at the venue.
Twenty-five wireless CCTVs with network slicing applied were installed around Yeouido and Ichon Hangang Park. Network slicing is a technology that separates a single communications network by use to provide a dedicated network for a specific service. The footage was transmitted to the integrated control center in real time, and 10 emergency contact devices were provided to on-site safety personnel for managing visitor movement and responding to emergencies.
Oh Taek-gyun, KT's head of network strategy, said, "We confirmed the potential for using 5G SA network slicing in the public safety sector at this event," adding, "We will expand network services tailored to industrial sites."
