Data platform company MongoDB said on the 3rd that it has appointed Richard Scott as senior vice president and general manager for the Asia-Pacific and Japan (APJ) region. Scott will oversee MongoDB's business strategy across the Asia-Pacific region.
Scott, the senior vice president and general manager, is an expert in the enterprise (corporate-use) business sector with more than 25 years of experience, and before joining MongoDB, served as senior vice president and general manager for Asia-Pacific and Japan at Salesforce, Inc.. Before that, Scott held key positions at global IT corporations including Informatica, Microsoft, SAP, and IBM.
Scott, the senior vice president and general manager, is expected to focus on accelerating MongoDB's growth across the Asia-Pacific region and the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) adoption by corporations. MongoDB has thousands of customers and more than 1,200 employees in the Asia-Pacific region. On May 5, it opened a new office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and on Sept. 9, it plans to open a new office in Tokyo, Japan. Over the coming months, the company plans to expand its investment in Japan.
MongoDB's integrated intelligent data platform is used by a range of corporations, including LG Uplus, Cathay Pacific, Samsung, and Woolworths.
Scott said, "Solving the data layer will be the most critical technical challenge for corporations in the AI era," adding, "We will focus on helping customers modernize and deploy AI applications quickly and with confidence."
