Service robot corporations Rhinos has developed an Autonomous Driving cleaning robot equipped with a domestically made artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor and will unveil it overseas for the first time.
Rhinos said on the 2nd that it will exhibit its self-developed commercial cleaning robot at IFA 2026, which will be held in Berlin, Germany, from the 4th to the 8th (local time). IFA is Europe's largest home appliance and IT exhibition where global corporations showcase new products and technologies.
The product was developed through the Ministry of Science and ICT's project to develop and demonstrate AX devices based on domestically made AI Semiconductors. Using domestically made AI Semiconductors, it recognizes its surroundings, moves on its own, and performs cleaning tasks.
It is equipped with LiDAR, a depth camera, an AI camera, and laser and collision detection sensors. It recognizes its surroundings and obstacles to perform Autonomous Driving and can sweep, vacuum, and mop. It also has fresh- and waste-water tanks and a dust collection bin, and is designed for repetitive floor-cleaning tasks in commercial facilities.
Rhinos reflected experience accumulated by operating service robots at domestic public institutions and corporations in product development. The judgment is that, because actual sites differ in corridor width, floor condition, moving obstacles, people's movement paths, and communication environments, it is important not only how simple driving and cleaning perform, but also how stably the robot can carry out repetitive tasks.
Chief Executive Lee Sang-rak of Rhinos said, "For service robots, it is more important to perform daily assigned tasks stably at customer sites than merely to introduce them," adding, "We incorporated into this product's development the issues and improvements we identified while operating robots at various sites." He also said, "It is meaningful that this is the first time we are presenting overseas a product that connects the operating experience accumulated at domestic sites to our own product."
Along with developing its own products, Rhinos is also expanding its domestic service robot operation business in collaboration with global service robot corporations Keenon Robotics. It is deploying cleaning, guidance, serving, delivery, and transport robots at public institutions and corporate sites.
The approach combines Rhinos' on-site diagnostics and demonstrations, installation, facility integration, user training, maintenance, and incident response with Keenon Robotics' products. Experience gained by operating overseas vendors' robots at domestic sites is reflected in its own research and development (R&D), and its self-developed products are then verified again in real sites.
Before product adoption, the "Robot Advisor Team" analyzes work zones and operating hours, communication environments, and the movement paths of people and robots. After on-site demonstrations, it decides on the product and quantity to apply and the operating method. During the demonstration process, it checks task completion rates, operating hours, whether incidents occur, and the degree of worker intervention.
Robots deployed on site are managed with the in-house integrated control system wheelieRCMS. It allows checks on the robots' locations, task status, operating history, battery status, and whether incidents have occurred. For public institutions and manufacturing and research facilities where external internet use is restricted, an on-premises method using the client's internal network is also applied.
This year, Rhinos aims to deploy and operate more than 200 service robots on site, focusing on public institutions and manufacturing, logistics, medical, education, and lodging facilities. Lee said, "More than the number 200 itself, it is important to accumulate real operating experience across different sites," adding, "In Korea, we will expand the service robot operation business through cooperation with Keenon Robotics, and for our self-developed products, we plan to pursue commercialization after domestic demonstrations and overseas market verification."
