Okestro Cloud said on the 2nd that it will join phases 7 and 8 of the 2026 public disaster recovery system (DR) establishment information strategy plan (ISP) led by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the National Information Society Agency (NIA).
Okestro Cloud will serve as the prime contractor for phase 8 and as a subcontractor for phase 7. The project designs redundancy and disaster recovery frameworks for public information systems so that core national services can be provided stably even if disasters or failures occur. It was pursued as the need to build remote disaster recovery systems for major information systems grew after the fire at the Daejeon center of the National Information Resources Service last year.
A total of 38 public information systems are subject to design. Phase 8 includes 21 systems from nine ministries and agencies, including the Government24 public service, the National Secretary notification service, and the Public Data Portal. Phase 7 targets 17 systems operated by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Ministry of Health and Welfare, including the mobile ID platform, the simple authentication system, and the next-generation social security information system.
Okestro Cloud will analyze each system's operating environment and importance to establish a disaster recovery target model. For seven systems, including the Government24 public service and the mobile ID platform, it will apply an active-active disaster recovery (AADR) method that operates the primary center and the disaster recovery center simultaneously. For the remaining systems, it plans to apply an active-standby disaster recovery (ASDR) method that runs the primary center under normal conditions and switches to a backup center in the event of a disaster.
It will design hardware and software configurations and infrastructure architecture by system and prepare a disaster recovery standard model that reflects the characteristics of each agency. It will also estimate the scale of infrastructure needed for actual implementation and establish an implementation plan for follow-up deployment, including system-level action items, build priorities, and phased schedules.
Okestro Cloud earlier won phases 1 and 2 of the 2026 Cloud-Native detailed design project. The company is expanding related businesses from consulting on cloud migration of public information systems to design, build, and operations.
