NHN's subsidiary NHN Cloud will lease a data center to be built in Pohang, North Gyeongsang, to expand its artificial intelligence (AI) graphics processing unit (GPU) business.
NHN disclosed on the 28th that NHN Cloud will sign a data center lease commitment with AI Factory Pohang PFV for the Pohang data center.
The commitment covers space and ancillary facilities equivalent to 20 MW of power within the data center. The lease term is 60 months from the commencement date.
NHN Cloud said the lease agreement is expected to "strengthen its business foundation to respond to growing demand for GPUaaS (GPU as a Service) and cloud services by securing stable data center infrastructure early, and contribute to mid- to long-term revenue growth."
NHN Cloud plans to secure a total of 30 MW of data center infrastructure by 2027 to strengthen competitiveness in AI and cloud infrastructure.
To secure additional data centers, it added that it is reviewing multiple options, including self-construction, but the specific scale, method, and timing have not yet been decided.
Meanwhile, NHN disclosed that it held a board meeting that day and decided to guarantee 110.114 billion won in debt that NHN Cloud will assume under the Pohang data center lease commitment.
