KT, which is taking part in the government's Everyone's AI project, unveiled a blueprint on the 27th saying it will not confine the service to a dedicated application (app) but expand it across services people use, such as portals, shopping, and internet TV (IPTV).
Everyone's AI is a project to build a universal AI service that anyone can use without restrictions on expense or usage. In a call for proposals by the Ministry of Science and ICT, six companies—KT, SK Telecom, Kakao, ESTsoft, MKD, and Genon—threw their hats in the ring.
KT said that platform and service corporations offering broad services across everyday life—Daum, Musinsa, ZIGBANG CO., EBS, Mathpresso, BC Card, ConnectWave, DeepSearch, and Saltlux—are participating in the consortium. The combined service touchpoints of these companies number more than 60 million.
KT said that while it will build the Everyone's AI app as the core platform for nationwide AI use, it will also apply Everyone's AI features to the comprehensive search portal Daum, the various service touchpoints of consortium corporations, and KT's Genie TV, so users can naturally enjoy the same AI experience within the services they already use without having to use a new app.
KT plans to make broad, real-world use across services of multiple domestic AI models, including independent domestic foundation models such as Solar (Upstage), Motif (Motif Technologies), LUXIA (Saltlux), VARCO (NC AI), and Mideum (KT), as well as specialized technologies from domestic AI corporations, including the domestic Neural Processing Unit (NPU) from Rebellions and GPU operation optimization technologies from Lablup and Vessel AI.
Lee Jin-hyeong, head of KT's AX Business Division (senior vice president), said that Everyone's AI starts with building a single, complete AI that anyone can use, but it will not be confined to a single service, adding that KT will expand it to diverse services to connect the needed AI and specialized services wherever and whenever people start.
