Samsung Electronics unveiled its 2027 Odyssey gaming monitor lineup, including the world's first 49-inch OLED monitor supporting a 360Hz refresh rate and an ultra-high refresh rate model up to 1100Hz.
Samsung Electronics said on the 27th it introduced four new models: the 2027 Odyssey OLED G9, G8, G7, and the Odyssey G6.
The top-tier Odyssey OLED G9 (G95SJ) is a 49-inch curved gaming monitor that, as the first among 49-inch OLED products, supports a 360Hz refresh rate. It features a 32:9 fifth-generation QD-OLED Penta Tandem panel, a 0.03ms (GtG) response time, and peak brightness of up to 1300 nits.
Using Dual Mode, users can switch to 360Hz at dual QHD resolution and up to 720Hz at dual HD.
The Odyssey OLED G8 (G80SJ) supports a Triple Mode that lets users choose three resolutions and refresh rates by game genre. It provides a 360Hz refresh rate at native 4K, and can switch to 520Hz at QHD and 680Hz at FHD.
The OLED G8 also uses the fifth-generation QD-OLED Penta Tandem panel and a 0.03ms response time. It is equipped with DisplayPort 2.1 (UHBR 20) supporting up to 80 Gbps bandwidth.
The Odyssey OLED G7 (G75SJ) is the world's first 42-inch OLED gaming monitor. Its display area is about 72% larger than the previous 32-inch model. It supports a 16:9 curved screen with 1000R curvature, a 4K OLED panel, and a 0.03ms response time. HDR10+ Gaming technology is also applied.
The 27-inch Odyssey G6 (G60H) supports a 600Hz refresh rate at QHD resolution. Using Dual Mode to switch to HD resolution, the refresh rate can be raised to up to 1100Hz. According to Samsung Electronics, it is the first in the world to introduce a gaming monitor exceeding 1000Hz. With a Fast IPS panel that maintains color reproduction during rapid scene changes and a 1ms response time, it is tuned for FPS games.
The four new models are also set to receive Nvidia G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certifications.
Samsung Electronics will expand cooperation not only in hardware but also in game content and picture quality technologies. On the glasses-free 3D monitor Odyssey 3D, it will support "Cyberpunk 2077" and "Chronos: The New Dawn" in 3D mode within the year, and plans to increase the number of compatible games to more than 120 by the end of 2026.
It will also expand the HDR10+ Gaming ecosystem, which analyzes game scenes and frames to optimize picture quality. In collaboration with Activision Blizzard, Inc., it applied HDR10+ Gaming to the new title "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4," and plans to increase the number of supported games to more than 20 by the first half of 2027.
Lee Heon, vice president of the visual display business at Samsung Electronics, said, "At Gamescom, the world's largest gaming festival, we unveiled a host of next-generation display technologies, ranging from the world's first 49-inch OLED at 360Hz to ultra-high-refresh gaming monitors up to 1100Hz," and added, "We will continue to introduce innovative products that lead the gaming display market."
According to market research firm IDC, Samsung Electronics recorded a 17.8% share by value in the global gaming monitor market in the first half of this year. The gaming monitor tally covered products with refresh rates of 144Hz or higher.
