SK Telecom said on the 26th that it held a Team SKT send-off ceremony at the Jincheon National Training Center in North Chungcheong ahead of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.
The send-off ceremony was organized to wish success to SKT-sponsored athletes ahead of the Asian Games.
Eight athletes attended the ceremony, including Oh Sang-uk, Do Gyeong-dong, Song Se-ra, Jeon Ha-young (fencing), Park Hye-jeong (weightlifting), Hwang Sun-woo (swimming), Namadi Joel Jin (athletics), and Noh Hyun-seung (sport climbing).
At the ceremony, SKT unveiled a "national cheering Taegeukgi" filled with messages of support collected through an online campaign.
SKT, which has served as the Korea Fencing Federation's sponsoring company for 24 years, plans to dispatch additional medical trainers and performance analysts to help manage athletes' conditions and improve performance.
SKT's self-developed fencing artificial intelligence (AI) performance analysis system, SKT-FAN (Fencing AI Nexus), was introduced in this Asian Games training process. Using AI-based Computer Vision technology, the system automatically edits Highlight videos of points scored and conceded right after a match and analyzes an opponent's strengths and weaknesses in detail. The goal is to reduce repetitive video analysis tasks by performance analysts by up to 90%.
Korea Fencing Federation Secretary-General Oh Wan-geun said, "Ahead of the Asian Games, both the athletes and coaching staff who tried SKT's AI performance analysis system were highly satisfied," and added, "We expect it to be actively used in preparations for the competition and lead to strong results."
