The Ministry of Science and ICT and Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) said on the 25th that they held a groundbreaking ceremony for phase one of the Songpa ICT security cluster on the site of the Central Radio Management Service in Songpa-gu, Seoul.
The Songpa ICT security cluster is a complex development project to create a hub for ICT security by bringing together radio and information security-related institutions, private office facilities, and commercial facilities. It will proceed in three phases: the Central Radio Management Service office building and radio testing facilities (phase one), public office facilities and public contribution facilities (phase two), and general office, commercial, and residential facilities (phase three).
Phase one, which is breaking ground this time, will be carried out by Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) under commission, investing a total of 60.9 billion won from the Government Properties Management Fund to develop a total floor area of 13,560㎡. A state-of-the-art new Central Radio Management Service building with two basement levels and seven above-ground floors, and radio testing facilities (Radio Playground) are slated for construction. The target for completion is the first half of 2029.
Construction for phases two and three is planned to move forward after phase one is completed.
Phase two will build public office facilities to house radio and information security-related institutions such as the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) Internet Intrusion Response Center and the Korea Radio Promotion Association Radio, Broadcasting and Telecommunications Education Center. Phase three will develop related general office facilities, commercial facilities, and residential facilities.
Ryu Je-myeong, second vice minister of the Ministry of Science and ICT, said, "We will spare no administrative and financial support so that national ICT security capabilities can take a leap forward and this can become a new growth base for the digital industry."
