LG Electronics will add more than 100 masterpieces from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York to its smart TV art content service "LG Gallery+."
LG Electronics said on the 25th that it recently formed a partnership with the Metropolitan Museum of Art and will offer the museum's collection on LG Gallery+. LG Gallery+ is a service based on webOS, LG Electronics' smart TV operating system, that lets users display artworks or photos on the TV screen like a digital picture frame.
Through this collaboration, viewers can enjoy more than 100 works from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection, including Édouard Manet's "The Monet family in their garden at Argenteuil," William Merritt Chase's "At the seaside," and Séverin Roesen's "Still life with flowers and fruit."
The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York holds a collection of about 2 million works, including pieces by Vincent van Gogh, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Edgar Degas. It welcomes about 7 million visitors a year.
LG Gallery+ offers more than 5,000 art content items. LG Electronics also partners with the National Gallery, London, and the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art to provide their collections on LG Gallery+. It also offers contemporary artworks in collaboration with the art platform Saatchi Art, as well as game illustrations, movie posters, and landscape photographs.
LG Electronics operates "LG OLED evo AI G6," the wallpaper TV "LG Signature OLED W," and "LG Gallery TV AI," which can use the screen like a picture frame, as its art TV lineup. Buyers of these products receive a three-month free pass to LG Gallery+.
Cho Byung-ha, executive vice president and head of the webOS Platform Business Center in the MS Business Division at LG Electronics, said, "We will continue to strengthen art content so customers can use LG TVs as digital picture frames to enjoy the content they love, such as art and games, and complete their own interior spaces."
