Pearl Abyss said on the 25th that its open-world action-adventure game "Crimson Desert" was nominated in two categories at the Gamescom Awards 2026: Most Epic and Best PC Game.
The Gamescom Awards are a ceremony that selects outstanding games by institutional sector among the works exhibited at Gamescom, the world's largest game show. A panel of expert judges selects the nominees, and the final winners are determined through votes by the judges and by Gamescom attendees and viewers. Voting by attendees and viewers will take place starting at 4 p.m. on the 26th Korea time, and the winners will be announced on the 28th.
The Most Epic category selects works that leave an impression with grand narratives and intense gameplay, while the Best PC Game category selects works that deliver high completeness and a quality game experience on the PC platform.
Crimson Desert ranked second in this year's cumulative U.S. video game sales list compiled by market research firm Circana. In the tally by global market analysis firm Alinea Analytics, it ranked No. 1 in Steam sales among new intellectual properties (IP) released this year.
It is currently maintaining a "very positive" rating on Steam from users of 13 languages, including English, German, Spanish and French. Pearl Abyss is providing ongoing patches and updates that reflect user feedback.
Pearl Abyss will participate in Gamescom with Samsung Electronics from the 26th to the 30th (local time). Visitors will be able to experience Crimson Desert on a PC setup featuring Samsung Electronics' 6K gaming monitor "Odyssey G8."
