LG Innotek has moved to secure overseas research and development (R&D) talent to lead future businesses such as physical artificial intelligence (AI), advanced packaging, and next-generation optics.
LG Innotek said on the 25th that it recently held an overseas talent recruitment event, "Inno Connect," at the InterContinental Hotel in Los Angeles (LA), the United States. Inno Connect is an event that invites master's and doctoral candidates and experienced professionals from major U.S. universities to introduce the company's technology and business direction and connect it to hiring, and it has been held annually in the United States since 2024.
This year's event was attended by Chief Technology Officer Min Jon (CTO, executive director) and Chief Human Resources Officer Lee Dong-hoon (CHO, executive director), along with key executives in charge of R&D. More than 30 master's and doctoral candidates and experienced professionals from 16 U.S. universities, including Stanford, the California Institute of Technology (Caltech), Yale, and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), also took part.
The majors of the talent LG Innotek is seeking to secure this year align with the businesses the company is cultivating as future growth engines. Participants mainly research physical AI—including Robotics and Autonomous Driving—advanced packaging, and next-generation optics.
LG Innotek is expanding its business portfolio from a camera module-centered structure to physical AI and semiconductor substrates. In line with this, the company is also accelerating the securing of specialized R&D personnel to build technological competitiveness in related fields.
At the event, LG Innotek researchers introduced the latest technology trends related to the participants' fields of study and the company's research and development status. Management also met directly with participants to exchange views on technological competitiveness and systems for talent development and support.
The company is also widening its channels for securing overseas talent. LG Innotek operates a global internship program for international students and Korean students studying at universities and graduate schools in Korea and abroad, and outstanding graduates are hired as full-time employees.
At its overseas production bases, the company is also fostering talent in connection with local universities. The Vietnam subsidiary has signed memorandums of understanding (MOUs) with major local universities such as Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, and is running hiring-linked programs such as contract departments, internships, and career guidance.
