KT said on the 23rd that it has formed a full-stack consortium that covers AI Semiconductor, models, platforms, cloud, and networks using only domestic technology to win the government's Everyone's AI project.
The consortium KT assembled does more than list the technologies of individual corporations; it consolidates each company's infrastructure and model and platform capabilities and links them organically to fit actual nationwide service operations. KT will serve as the lead organization.
In the infrastructure institutional sector, Rebellions, Lablup, and Vessel AI Korea will lend support. Rebellions will handle the domestic Neural Processing Unit (NPU), Lablup will handle AI computing resource operation technology, and Vessel AI Korea will handle the AI development and operation platform, creating a structure that provides a foundation for large-scale services to run stably.
On the model and platform side, domestic AI specialist corporations such as Upstage, Motif Technologies, NC AI, Saltlux, and ActionPower will be in charge. They plan to deploy their respective AI models and technologies tailored to different usage environments and service demand.
KT plans to focus on combining its nationwide telecom network, cloud and data centers, and large-scale service operation know-how to keep service quality steady even when many people connect at once. The company said it will develop this kind of technical consolidation into an "AI orchestration" system to create a channel through which the technologies of domestic AI corporations lead to real nationwide services, and further contribute to expanding the domestic AI ecosystem.
Executive Director Lee Jin-hyung, head of the AX Business Division at KT's AX Business Unit, said, "For Everyone's AI to become a service that people can use stably in daily life, not only AI models but also the supporting semiconductors and computing infrastructure, cloud and networks, and large-scale operating capabilities are all needed," and added, "By combining the technological prowess of domestic AI specialist corporations with KT's operational experience, we will lay the groundwork for anyone to use stable and trustworthy AI services."
Meanwhile, six companies, including KT, SK Telecom, Kakao, ESTsoft, Genon, and MKD, have bid for the Everyone's AI project. The Ministry of Science and ICT plans to select two to three companies at the end of this month after document and presentation evaluations.
