OpenAI, which is pursuing an initial public offering (IPO), replaced its chief revenue officer (CRO) who has led sales for corporate clients in less than a year.
OpenAI said on the 13th (local time) that it appointed Dali Rajic, former president and chief operating officer (COO) of cloud security company Wiz, as the new CRO.
The new CRO, Rajic, has led sales organizations at major information technology (IT) corporations.
With Rajic's arrival, Denis Dréser, former Slack chief executive officer (CEO) who was recruited from Salesforce, Inc. in December, will leave OpenAI after eight months.
OpenAI said, "Denis decided to leave OpenAI after a transition period to pursue new opportunities."
Dréser said on her LinkedIn account, "After discussions about the company's future needs, I am working with President Greg Brockman for a smooth transition."
Regarding the CRO change, President Brockman said, "The way technology is adopted is changing rapidly," and added, "Dali will turn the experience we have built into repeatable execution so that AI can be widely and helpfully used by people and corporations."
OpenAI submitted a confidential IPO filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in June and is moving forward with the listing process. The CRO change comes as OpenAI seeks to expand its business for corporate clients ahead of the listing. Compared with rival Anthropic, OpenAI has grown mainly around individual users, leading to assessments that the share of revenue from corporate clients, which contributes more to profit, is relatively low.
OpenAI has repeatedly said it aims to raise revenue from corporate clients by the end of this year to match revenue from individual clients.
Meanwhile, OpenAI has also seen recent departures from top management. Fidji Simo, who had served as CEO of the business institutional sector, resigned last month to treat a chronic illness, and former chief operating officer (COO) Brad Lightcap left on the 11th.
