Google unveiled new smartphones, a smartwatch, and an anti-loss tag with significantly enhanced artificial intelligence (AI) features.
On the 12th (local time), Google unveiled its own smartphone series Pixel 11 and the foldable smartphone Pixel 11 Pro Fold.
The Pixel 11 series is characterized by packing in a slew of features based on Google's AI model Gemini to improve user convenience. When users make a voice request, the on-device Gemini AI accesses linked apps to order groceries or coffee and handles restaurant and hospital reservations on their behalf.
The voice input feature Rambler is also included. Even if users speak out of order or pause mid-conversation with fillers like "um…," it infers intent from context. An accessibility feature that recognizes sign language through the camera and converts it into real-time captions was also added.
There are no major changes to the exterior, but the thickness of the rear camera bar was reduced by 40% from the previous model and the entire surface is finished in glass. A self-developed application processor (AP) was installed to improve power efficiency by 20%.
The foldable smartphone Pixel 11 Pro Fold improved the hinge and the glass fiber composite material to make durability three times higher than the previous model. The weight was cut by 20 grams and the thickness made 1 mm thinner. When folded, the thickness is 0.4 inches (about 10.2 mm).
Prices also went up. The Pixel 11 drops the 128GB model and starts at 256GB. The starting price is $899 (about 1.27 million won), $100 higher than the previous model. The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL are $1,099 and $1,299, respectively, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is $1,899 (about 2.69 million won).
Google also unveiled the Pixel Watch 5 that day. Through the new health monitoring tool Health Guardian, it provides a report analyzing users' blood pressure and insulin resistance trends. A safety feature that automatically contacts emergency services when it detects an emergency in which oxygen saturation keeps dropping sharply, such as from suffocation or severe pneumonia, was also applied. The price is $399 for the 41 mm model.
Google also introduced the Pixel Tag, an anti-loss device similar to Apple's AirTag and Samsung Electronics' Galaxy SmartTag. When attached to keys, wallets, or bags, it allows real-time tracking of the location if lost.
The Pixel Tag supports IP67-rated water and dust resistance and can be used for about one year with a single CR2032 battery. The price is $29 per unit and $99 for a pack of four.
