Samsung Electronics will secure an additional heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) manufacturing facility in India and step up efforts to tap the artificial intelligence (AI) data center market in India and the Asia-Pacific region.
Samsung Electronics said on the 13th that it held a completion ceremony on the 12th (local time) for FläktGroup's new HVAC production line in Pune, Maharashtra, India. About 100 executives from both companies and key client partners attended the event, including Kim Cheol-gi, head of Samsung Electronics' DA Division (vice president), and David Doni, FläktGroup chief executive officer (CEO).
The Pune plant will operate as a production hub supplying HVAC products to India and the Asia-Pacific region, alongside the existing Noida facility in India. Pune is an area where data centers and industrial infrastructure are expanding, and its proximity to the Port of Mumbai makes it advantageous for supplying products to the Asia-Pacific region, Samsung Electronics said.
The new facility, including production lines, office space and auxiliary facilities, spans 13,826 square meters (about 4,190 pyeong). Equipment installation began early this year, and mass production capability was established in about six months. At full capacity, it can produce up to 6,500 HVAC units annually.
In Pune, the company will produce air handling units (AHU), FläktGroup's flagship product, as well as fan wall units (FWU) and computer room air handlers (CRAH).
AHUs use chilled water to cool interior air and manage air quality in data centers and large commercial buildings. FWUs arrange multiple fans in a wall configuration to circulate air, while CRAHs precisely control server room temperature and airflow to maintain operating conditions for information technology (IT) equipment.
Samsung Electronics plans to increase HVAC supply in India and the Asia-Pacific region, where cooling demand is growing with the expansion of AI data centers. It will use the Pune production line to ramp up local manufacturing capacity and speed up responses to customers.
Kim Cheol-gi, head of Samsung Electronics' DA Division (vice president), said, "The completion of the Pune production line in India is an important milestone in expanding HVAC supply beyond India to the Asia-Pacific region," adding, "We will combine Samsung's AI and platform technologies with FläktGroup's HVAC capabilities to meet diverse customer needs, including AI data centers."
