NC will shift the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Throne and Liberty (TL), which it has provided under a publishing (distribution) agreement with Amazon Game Studios, to in-house service within the year.
NC said on the 13th that it "plans to directly operate TL's global service to consistently provide stable service to global users and to strengthen the linkage between development and service operations."
Earlier, in February 2023, NC signed a publishing agreement with Amazon Games, Amazon's game division. The contract was initially set to end five years after TL's commercialization, but on the 12th, it was changed to Feb. 1, 2027, by mutual agreement between the two companies. If the service transfer is completed before then, the contract will also end early.
With the confidentiality clause lifted, the initial contract amount disclosed is $70 million, which was about 90.7 billion won at the exchange rate at the time of the contract.
If the transition is completed within the year, NC will take over and provide the overseas service that Amazon Game Studios has been in charge of since June 2024 in North America, South America, Europe and Japan. Users on NC Purple, Steam, PlayStation and Xbox—PC and console platforms—will be able to enjoy TL in a single integrated global environment.
Even after the service transition, all data and assets, including TL users' character information, will remain unchanged. Purple users will be able to continue using their existing account without reconsenting to terms or any additional procedures.
