LG Uplus said on the 12th it will expand its public cloud business by combining Amazon Web Services (AWS)' global cloud infrastructure with its own network and security operations capabilities. The strategy is to strengthen AWS-based cloud services in line with rising demand for digital transformation at public institutions.
LG Uplus officially registered "LG Uplus brokerage service for AWS," a service that intermediates AWS' infrastructure as a service (IaaS), on the Digital Services Utilization Support System.
The Digital Services Utilization Support System is a dedicated platform for the public sector where the government, local governments, and public institutions search for and contract digital services such as cloud IaaS, software as a service (SaaS), and cloud support services. For a new service to be listed on the system, it must be reviewed by the Ministry of Science and ICT's Digital Services Review Committee. With this registration, the public institutional sector can use LG Uplus' AWS cloud infrastructure brokerage service through the Digital Services Utilization Support System.
LG Uplus plans to support civil service inquiry and work-support chatbots using generative artificial intelligence (AI), AI-based information search services, and the establishment of databases for managing statistical and administrative data.
Jeong Young-hun, executive director in charge of corporations AI business at LG Uplus, said, "We will support public institutions by bringing together our AX (AI transformation) business capabilities and our know-how in developing and operating AI services such as the AI contact center (AICC)."
