Pearl Abyss continued its second-quarter earnings improvement this year on the back of strong sales of the new title "Crimson Desert."
Pearl Abyss said on the 11th that second-quarter sales on a consolidation basis were 192.6 billion won, up 247.7% from a year earlier. Operating profit jumped 7,411.1% in the same period to 67.6 billion won. Net profit swung to a surplus.
"Crimson Desert," released in March this year, drove the results.
By business, overseas sales accounted for 91% in the second quarter. Of that, North America and Europe, where there are many "Crimson Desert" users, made up 75%. By intellectual property (IP), sales were 55 billion won for Black Desert and 136.1 billion won for Crimson Desert. It accounted for 70% of Crimson Desert's sales.
Pearl Abyss plans to continue expanding content, including reinforcing the storyline and new updates, to enhance the value of the Crimson Desert IP. Aiming for long-term success of Crimson Desert, it will release DLC within the year and unveil a Crimson Desert Nintendo Switch 2 version in the first half of next year. As part of its sales strategy, the company is also preparing package discounts.
A Pearl Abyss official said, "In the second half, we plan to continue adding new content and improving services while expanding points of contact with global users."
