Seven years of Samsung foldable technology in one place… "Foldable Heritage" opens
Samsung Electronics said on the 11th that it opened "Foldable Heritage," an exhibition space that brings together seven years of Galaxy foldable technology innovation, on the 10th at Samsung Gangnam, Samsung Store Hongdae and Samsung Store Cheongdam.
Since unveiling the Galaxy Fold in 2019 through the recently launched Galaxy Z8 series, Samsung Electronics has led seven years of innovation in the foldable form factor (device form).
Foldable Heritage is composed of three sections — ▲ Galaxy Fold·Flip story ▲ design story ▲ tech story — offering a snapshot of Samsung Electronics' foldable technology evolution.
First, the Galaxy Fold·Flip story section presents the chronology of the Galaxy foldable lineup. From the first foldable phone, the Galaxy Fold, to the world's first tri-fold, the Galaxy Z Trifold, and up to the Galaxy Z Fold8 featuring a new aspect ratio, it captures the development of not only the hardware of each generation but also core technologies, including Galaxy artificial intelligence (AI).
The design story section details the birth of the Galaxy Z8 series. It covers the development process and behind-the-scenes stories from the sketch stage through countless mock-up tests to achieve the optimal aspect ratio and a refined design.
The tech story section offers a three-dimensional look at display technology for Galaxy foldables, the history of hinge development and rigorous durability testing. Visitors can explore display technologies such as Flex Titanium applied to the Z Fold8 Ultra and Fold8. They can also review the history of hinge advancements, a core foldable technology, and the extreme verification processes undertaken to enhance product completeness.
