Naver D2SF said on the 11th that it made a follow-on investment in NdotLight, a data infrastructure corporations for physical artificial intelligence (AI). The latest funding for NdotLight was led by the Korea Development Bank, totaling 15 billion won.
Naver D2SF made its third investment following the pre-series A in 2021 and the series A round in 2022.
Naver D2SF noted that NdotLight is a team that can solve the data problem, the key bottleneck for physical AI. Based on its own engine, NdotLight developed TRINIX, a simulation-ready 3D (three-dimensional) data generation solution that can be used directly for physical AI training simulations. As the importance of physical AI data grows, various approaches, including teleoperation (remote control), are being tried, but to use them in real training environments, there are large gaps in data quality and the expense is high.
NdotLight solved this with a pipeline that automates 3D data generation that precisely reflects physical properties such as mass and friction, as well as joint structures and collision boundary information. In particular, it integrates with Nvidia's simulation platform Omniverse to supply large volumes of high-quality 3D simulation datasets.
NdotLight currently provides AI training data to Humanoid Robot and robot foundation model corporations such as Holiday Robotics, AeiROBOT, Robros, and RealWorld. It also participates as a data supplier in physical AI projects at Hyundai Motor and LG Electronics.
Yang Sang-hwan, head of the Naver D2SF Center, said, "NdotLight has been based in Naver 1784, interacting closely and building trust," and added, "We expect it to grow into a leading physical AI data corporations."
