The Korea Artificial Intelligence and Software Industry Association (KOSA) and the Korea Electrical Manufacturers Association (KOEMA) said on the 9th that they signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on the 7th to expand AX (AI transformation) in the electrical industry and to cultivate industrial artificial intelligence (AI) talent.
The two organizations will identify AI demand in electrical industry workplaces and set out to create an AX ecosystem centered on industrial worksites.
Specifically, they agreed to cooperate in areas including establishing a system for cultivating, supplying, and utilizing AI talent based on worksite demand; building an AI factory in the electrical industry; linking, matching, and supporting commercialization between AI suppliers and electrical manufacturing companies; creating a foundation for utilizing electrical manufacturing data; and jointly discovering specialized AI use models.
They also agreed to pool efforts to uncover manufacturing AX demand and promote joint projects using item-specific councils; to secure standardization and interoperability related to industrial AI and to advance testing, certification, and quality management systems; and to jointly identify legal and institutional improvement tasks and foster a policy environment to invigorate manufacturing AX.
The cooperation targets the use of AI at electrical industry worksites, including manufacturing processes, quality control, and equipment operations. While discovering and spreading best practices, the two organizations plan to support the application of next-generation technologies such as physical AI and On-device AI to industrial sites to boost the productivity and quality competitiveness of electrical manufacturing companies.
Seo Seong-il, KOSA's executive vice president, said, "To enhance the productivity and quality competitiveness of the electrical industry, it is important to connect AI technologies and talent suitable for manufacturing sites," adding, "With this agreement as a starting point, we will actively identify AX demand at electrical industry worksites with KOEMA, and deliver manufacturing innovation outcomes through cooperation with AI suppliers and the cultivation of industrial AI talent."
