Adobe said on the 7th that it released a "ChatGPT Adobe plug-in," which lets artificial intelligence (AI) handle photo editing, video production, design, and more when users ask for tasks in a conversational way in ChatGPT. It bundled about 70 features from Adobe's major product lines, including Photoshop, into one.
Previously, in December last year, Adobe released a dedicated app that lets users access Photoshop, Express, and Acrobat in ChatGPT. This time, it integrated the existing apps into one and added various tools from other products such as Lightroom, Illustrator, and Firefly, strengthening integration between Adobe and ChatGPT.
An Adobe official said, "Through this, users can continue from ideation to final output within ChatGPT as a single connected experience."
Going forward, users will be able to handle tasks such as photo editing, video production, design, and document creation by conversing with ChatGPT in natural language. If advanced editing or precision work is needed, they can continue in an Adobe app exactly where they left off in ChatGPT.
For example, users can browse thousands of design templates, choose the one best suited for their work purpose, customize text and colors, and convert it into a high-quality PDF, or extract only key scenes from a long video, edit them, and optimize the result for platforms such as YouTube Shorts and Instagram Reels.
This is part of Adobe's ecosystem expansion strategy. Since the start of this year, Adobe has expanded support for its tools to major AI chatbots such as OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic Claude, and Microsoft Copilot. It plans to introduce related features on Slack and Google Gemini soon. As AI chatbots emerge as core platforms for search and creative work, Adobe is also strengthening related partnerships to prevent existing user churn and attract new users.
The new plug-in is available in OpenAI's work-focused agent ChatGPT Work and the coding tool Codex. Once users add the Adobe plug-in in ChatGPT, they can start using it right away.
Vibhor Chhabra, head of product for the OpenAI ChatGPT ecosystem, said, "We are building ChatGPT so users can leverage the best capabilities for the task at hand," adding, "Adobe's productivity tools help people express creativity, communicate, and boost productivity."
