Devsisters said on the 7th that on a consolidation basis it posted second-quarter revenue of 52.7 billion won and an operating loss of 16 billion won.
Revenue fell 42.7% from a year earlier, and operating profit swung to a loss.
The company said short-term revenue declined as its major live games entered a reorganization phase. However, as management overhaul efforts progressed, the size of the loss narrowed slightly.
Operating expenses reflected one-off costs such as a temporary increase in personnel expenses due to organizational restructuring and execution of pre-contracted marketing expense. Devsisters expected the financial environment to improve as fixed-cost management and stringent cost controls take full effect from the third quarter.
It also cited the performance of new and existing games as drivers for improved results in the third quarter. On June 25, Cookie Run Classic, which expanded its service regions overseas, has been sustaining performance, led by the Thai market.
The new title Cookie Run Tycoon - Cookie Run: Crumble (hereafter Cookie Run: Crumble), released on the 30th of last month, also ranked No. 1 in revenue on the two major app markets and surpassed 1 million cumulative users four days after launch.
Devsisters plans to run user acquisition (UA) marketing centered on regions such as Korea, the United States, and Taiwan to ensure market adoption and long-term success for Cookie Run: Crumble. After the first update on the 13th, it will add new content at two-week intervals to increase user inflow and retention.
The intellectual property (IP) business that handles non-game areas such as trading card games (TCG) and character merchandise also showed growth. Related revenue exceeded 10 billion won in the first half of this year, accounting for more than 10% of total revenue. In the second half, it plans to expand the scale of the IP business by broadening into licensing, centered on the North American market. In addition, Cookie Run Card Collection, a Roblox game based on the TCG Cookie Run: Bravers Card Game, will also be unveiled in the third quarter.
A Devsisters official said, "While maintaining a companywide expense efficiency stance, we will drive a second-half earnings turnaround by linking key momentum such as new title success, the resurgence of existing core titles, and IP business expansion."
