Jeong Young-hoon, head of the corporations AI business at LG Uplus, said on Aug. 6 during the second-quarter earnings conference call that "new data centers, including the Paju artificial intelligence (AI) data center, are expected to improve profitability compared with existing data centers."
Jeong said, "Data center sales are broadly divided into colocation fees and electricity charges. As investments in liquid cooling and power infrastructure have increased to ensure stable operation of AI servers, we expect selling prices for colocation fees to be set higher." She added, "Recently, demand is far outstripping supply, so colocation rates continue to rise."
Jeong said, "Electricity charges are typically billed on a metered, pay-as-you-use basis, and as utilization rises, the aggregates of electricity charges are also increasing."
