KT said on Aug. 6 it will expand its "artificial intelligence (AI)-based real-time spam blocking service" (AI Spam Blocking) to all customers.
AI Spam Blocking is a feature KT developed in January. It detects and blocks new types of spam in real time, including those altered with special characters to evade keyword blocking. It was piloted for 800,000 customers who set the smart blocking function to "high" in the "KT Spam Blocking" application (app).
Through the pilot, KT secured service stability and, starting on July 29, expanded the AI Spam Blocking feature to all customers within its existing "(Safe) Spam Blocking Service" (Spam Blocking Service).
The service is free for all KT customers, including KT budget phone users.
AI Spam Blocking operates 24 hours a day, including weekends and nights. KT said that from July 29 to Aug. 3, after the expansion of AI Spam Blocking, the Spam Blocking Service's false block rate was 0.003% and related VOC (customer inquiries) were zero, maintaining stable quality. It added that by precisely blocking spam that previously slipped through, AI Spam Blocking proved effective, with the total number of spam blocks increasing by 3.5%.
