DB HiTek will provide three pieces of micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) equipment to strengthen the semiconductor process support capabilities of the national nanofab integrated platform MoaFab.

DB HiTek signed a semiconductor equipment transfer agreement on the 6th with the Ministry of Science and ICT and MoaFab officials at the Sangwu Campus in Eumseong, North Chungcheong.

MoaFab is an integrated platform that links regional national nanofabs to support semiconductor research and development and prototype production. The Ministry of Science and ICT, Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, and DB HiTek signed a business agreement in Mar. last year to strengthen MoaFab's competitiveness.

Under the agreement, DB HiTek will provide a total of three units, including one high-temperature heat treatment tool for MEMS processes and two etching tools. MEMS is a technology that uses semiconductor manufacturing processes to create ultra-small, precise mechanical structures at the nanoscale.

The transferred equipment will be used in the research and development and prototype production processes of the National NanoFab Center (NNFC) and the Korea Nano Technology Research Society, which participate in MoaFab. Along with the equipment support, DB HiTek plans to provide consulting needed for semiconductor manufacturing technology and fab operations.

About 30 people, including officials from the Ministry of Science and ICT, DB HiTek, and MoaFab, attended the event. After the agreement ceremony, a meeting was held to discuss MoaFab's operation and utilization plans, followed by a tour of the production facilities.

A DB HiTek official said, "We will use the donation of MEMS process equipment as an opportunity to expand support for the national nanofab," adding, "We will continue consulting on semiconductor manufacturing technology and fab operations to help strengthen the competitiveness of Korea's system semiconductor industry."
