The Kakao union has drawn up a tentative wage agreement and is holding a vote to approve or reject it.
According to the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU) Korean Chemical, Textile & Food Workers' Union (KCTFU) Kakao chapter (Kakao union) on the 5th, the union held a briefing early this week for members on the tentative wage agreement and shared the details, and on the day began the approval vote.
If more than half vote in favor, the wage negotiations are concluded. The specific details of the agreement will not be disclosed until final conclusion.
The Kakao union held a strike on the 10th of last month for the first time since the company was founded. It also went on strike on the 29th of last month.
The core issue in the labor dispute at Kakao is performance compensation. The union demanded a performance bonus worth about 10 million won, equivalent to 13–14% of operating profit, and a 6.9% raise in annual salary.
