Shinsegae I&C said on the 4th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with KT to cooperate on private and Hybrid Cloud services for corporations.
The signing ceremony was held on the 31st at Shinsegae I&C's headquarters in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, with attendees including Jeong Pil-seung, head of CloudBIZ at Shinsegae I&C, and Im Geon-ho, senior vice president and head of data services in KT's Enterprise division.
The two companies will jointly promote a Nutanix-based private and Hybrid Cloud business by combining Shinsegae I&C's cloud technology with KT's business-to-business (B2B) corporate customer base and infrastructure. They plan to link their services and capabilities to identify corporations' demand for cloud migration and expand the related market.
KT will focus on Cloud Line, its Nutanix-based HCI and disaster recovery (DR) service, to secure corporate customers and provide telecommunications and network infrastructure. Shinsegae I&C will lead with Sparrows One, its subscription-based private cloud service built on Nutanix HCI, and support cloud-specialized services such as architecture design and technical consulting.
Through this partnership, the two companies plan to help corporate customers build an integrated environment that combines telecommunications, networks, and cloud services. They said they will use a Nutanix-based standard architecture to reduce complexity in the build process and lower initial investment burdens, while providing infrastructure that factors in public cloud connectivity and future AI service expansion.
The two companies plan to expand the scope of cooperation to cloud services optimized for AI business over the mid to long term.
Im Geon-ho, senior vice president in charge of data services at KT, said, "As corporate AI adoption expands, the importance of infrastructure that can integrally provide a stable network and cloud environment is growing," adding, "Through this partnership, we will support customers' cloud migration and provide the optimal Hybrid Cloud environment that combines our telecommunications and infrastructure capabilities with cloud services."
Jeong Pil-seung, head of CloudBIZ at Shinsegae I&C, said, "As corporate AI transformation gains traction, the importance of cloud infrastructure that can securely manage data and reliably operate AI services is increasing," adding, "By combining the two companies' capabilities, we will provide services optimized to each customer's needs and expand into high value-added cloud businesses for AI."
