Naver has hired former Ministry of National Defense Vice Minister Kim Sun-ho as a full-time advisory executive.
According to the industry on the 4th, the former Vice Minister recently completed the employment review for retired public officials and is coordinating a start date with Naver.
The former Vice Minister is a member of the 43rd class of the Korea Military Academy and served in the military for about 30 years. After serving as head of force planning at the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) and as commander of the Capital Defense Command, the person retired from the Army as a lieutenant general in 2020. The person took office as Ministry of National Defense Vice Minister in Oct. 2023 and served until June last year.
Naver is seen as seeking to leverage the former Vice Minister's experience in defense and government policy to strengthen its public and defense institutional sector AX (AI transformation) business and sovereign AI strategy.
Naver Cloud is expanding its military-focused artificial intelligence (AI) business, including launching a dedicated defense AX (AI transformation) organization. It plans to deploy AI agents across all areas of defense by 2030.
