Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) said on the 3rd that it has created a new "cryptographic module tester training course," in partnership with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Intelligence Service, to cultivate personnel with the specialized knowledge and practical skills needed for cryptographic module testing, and is recruiting trainees.
A cryptographic module is a technology used to encrypt non-classified work materials of national and public institutions and prevent forgery and tampering. For corporations to supply cryptographic module products or services to national and public institutions, they must have their safety and implementation compliance tested and verified under the cryptographic module validation system.
As cryptographic module validation testing has recently expanded from the existing public testing framework to a private testing framework, the importance of securing professionals to conduct cryptographic module validation testing is growing. In response, KISA, together with the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National Intelligence Service, newly established this year's "cryptographic module tester training course" and set up a tester training system that links training with a written exam.
The training will be conducted in person for five days from the 31st of this month to the 4th of next month. The main content includes cryptographic module validation testing procedures, cryptographic module testing and validation criteria, and methods for testing implementation compliance of cryptographic algorithms. The training will run until the morning of the last day, followed by a written exam in the afternoon.
From the 3rd to the 21st, 100 trainees will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis. Anyone interested in cryptographic module testing and validation, or who hopes to work as a tester at a testing institution, can apply free of charge.
Park Hae-ryong, head of KISA's AI security technology division, said, "For the private testing framework to operate stably, it is important to secure professionals who can understand the testing criteria accurately and apply them consistently," adding, "Based on a training system that links education and exams, we will enhance the expertise and reliability of cryptographic module testing."
