SK Telecom is joining hands with domestic physical AI and Robotics startups to expand adoption on industrial sites. The plan is to build a cooperative framework that spans robot hardware, data, and artificial intelligence (AI) models to grow an open robotics ecosystem.
SK Telecom said on the 31st that it held a "physical AI and Robotics startup roundtable" at the SK Seorin Building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the 30th and discussed joint commercialization plans. The event was attended by the SK Group AI Committee and officials from SK hynix and SK AX, as well as executives from eight startups: Gauss Labs, Real World, MakinaRocks, CMES Robotics, We Robotics, Yuil Robotics, Config Intelligence, and Holiday Robotics.
The participating corporations introduced each company's technologies and business status, including humanoids and wearable robots, industrial collaborative robots, and robot foundation models (RFM). They then discussed ways to promote joint pilots on manufacturing, logistics, and service sites, and to combine SK Group's AI Semiconductor, data centers, Digital Twin, and AI model capabilities with startup technologies.
In particular, a key agenda item was how to build the data needed to train RFMs in a Digital Twin environment that virtually implements industrial sites. SK Telecom expects that, because securing demonstration spaces and training data is a core task for commercializing physical AI, this collaboration will speed the field application of technologies now in the research stage.
Yu Kyung-sang, head of SK Telecom's AI CIC, said, "A full-stack ecosystem that connects semiconductors, robot foundation models, and application services must be established for meaningful innovation in physical AI," and added, "We will continue to expand cooperation with domestic startups."
