NC AI, a subsidiary of NCSOFT focused on artificial intelligence (AI), said on the 31st it was finally selected as the lead research and development institution for the "real-world active-behavior agentic AI technology development project," overseen by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Information & communications Technology Planning & Evaluation (IITP).

The "real-world active-behavior agentic AI technology development project" aims to develop executable agentic AI technologies usable on industrial sites and will run for four years from this year through 2029 with a total budget of 49.375 billion won (39.5 billion won in national funding).

NC AI formed a consortium with Gabia, Korea University, and Yonsei University to carry out the task of "agentic AI technology development for enterprise-wide business innovation based on goal-oriented long-context reasoning" under the project. The goal is to develop agentic AI technology that can continuously understand organizational goals and complex business contexts and carry out the entire work process consistently.

In this task, NC AI will oversee the entirety of research and development, including architecture design optimized for corporations, agent training and tuning, and execution engine construction. It will also integrate various business systems and implement the research outcomes in a form that can be applied to real work environments.

The research outcomes of this task will be applied to Gabia, the No. 1 groupware platform in Korea, to conduct demonstrations in actual corporate work environments. From the research and development stage, the plan is to verify the technology's performance and stability based on various business scenarios and reflect on-site feedback in research and development to enhance technological completeness. Based on the verification results, the company also plans to pursue commercialization of agentic AI services that corporations can use in real work.

NC AI plans to expand the agentic AI technology secured through this task into the physical AI field.

Lee Yeon-su, CEO of NC AI, said, "This task is research that presents a new paradigm in which AI goes beyond simply providing answers to performing business tasks together with corporations," adding, "Based on agentic AI technology verified in real corporate environments, NC AI will build a next-generation AI technology foundation that not only drives digital work innovation but also extends to physical AI in the future."
