Hancom Lifecare said on the 31st that its sales in the second quarter this year came to 55.1 billion won, with operating profit of 7.6 billion won. That was up 103% and 168%, respectively, from a year earlier.
On a cumulative basis for the first half, sales rose 81% year over year to 61.0 billion won. Operating profit swung to a profit of 3.8 billion won. Profitability also improved significantly. The second-quarter operating margin was 13.8%. The company said process efficiency, expense structure optimization, and expanded deliveries of high value-added defense equipment contributed to the improved profitability.
The gains were driven by simultaneous growth in defense and fire safety businesses. In the defense segment, first- and second-batch deliveries of ground laser target designators (GLTD) were completed in June and reflected in second-quarter results. The fire and safety segment also expanded sales as high value-added new products—such as welding fire blankets and solutions for electric vehicle and battery fire response—took hold in the market, alongside steady sales of core products like self-contained breathing apparatus.
Growth is expected to continue in the second half. The next-generation K5 gas mask for the military will be delivered in stages from July to Oct., and remaining GLTD volumes are also slated for delivery, raising expectations for higher defense segment sales.
The company is also securing mid- to long-term growth engines. The urban area engagement training project and the Army Korea Training Combat Training Center (KTCT), key defense businesses, are expected to be reflected in revenue in earnest starting next year.
It will also fully foster its new unmanned robot business. Hancom Lifecare signed a domestic supply memorandum of understanding (MOU) in May with France's Shark Robotics, the No. 1 company by market share in the global unmanned firefighting robot market, and in June expanded cooperation into robots for defense and explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) at Eurosatory 2026, the world's largest land defense exhibition.
Chief Executive Kim Seon-young of Hancom Lifecare said, "In the second quarter, results improved markedly as defense business deliveries were reflected in earnest and new firefighting products added to the effect," adding, "We expect growth to expand further as K5 gas mask deliveries and the unmanned firefighting robot business ramp up in the second half."
