Samsung Electronics said it expects the number of 2-nanometer (nm; one-billionth of a meter) process orders this year to more than double from a year earlier. It added that it is also discussing leading-edge process projects with major customers, including Broadcom.
Samsung Electronics said on the 30th during its second-quarter earnings conference call that it has won 2-nm projects from major cloud service providers (CSPs) and artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing (HPC) customers, and that customers have begun product design.
It added that it is continuing to expand new leading-edge process orders while discussing various projects with major customers, including Broadcom, and noted that, based on this order momentum, the number of 2-nm orders in 2026 is expected to expand sharply to more than double from a year earlier.
Samsung Electronics previously said it would begin mass production in the second half of this year of mobile products using its second-generation 2-nm process and expand orders for leading-edge processes and AI and HPC. At the conference call, it additionally disclosed the magnitude of the increase in 2-nm orders and that customers have entered the product design phase.
