Dassault Systèmes said on the 30th that it opened the "Busan Techno Center" in Choryang-dong, Dong-gu, Busan, as a hub to support the digital transformation of the shipbuilding and defense industries.
The center was created to strengthen smart design and simulation capabilities in the shipbuilding and defense industries, train specialists who will lead manufacturing innovation, and boost the competitiveness of Korea's core industries. At the opening ceremony on the 29th were Pascal Daloz, chairman and CEO of Dassault Systèmes, Jeong Un-seong, head of Dassault Systèmes Korea, Lee Gil-seop, executive vice president of Hanwha Ocean, and Kim Dong-hyun, director general of future technology strategy for the city of Busan, among others.
Since entering the Korean market in 1997, Dassault Systèmes established a research and development (R&D) center in Daegu in 2010 and has continued developing 3D technologies in shipbuilding and marine. The new Busan center will serve as a hub in Busan, the heart of the shipbuilding industry, to expand support for digital transformation not only in shipbuilding and marine but also in the defense industry.
The center houses workspaces for Dassault Systèmes Korea employees alongside collaboration areas for customers and partners. It includes a technology center where visitors can experience the 3DExperience (3DEXPERIENCE) platform and industry solutions, a Virtual Reality (VR) experience zone, a mini shipyard demo zone, a multipurpose space for training and meetings, and a work lounge for business, seminars, and networking events.
Using the Busan Techno Center as a base, Dassault Systèmes plans to expand support for 3D design and simulation technologies in the shipbuilding and defense industries and to strengthen cooperation to help regional corporations shift to smart manufacturing and enhance their global competitiveness.
