LG Electronics is producing the first batch on a pilot production line for robot actuators built at its Changwon plant, validating mass production potential and quality stability. Joint development is also underway not only in Korea but with robot corporations in Europe and North America.
On a conference call for second-quarter results held on the 30th, Yu Jong-in, head of management for the Home Appliance & Air Solution (HS) Business Division at LG Electronics, said, "We completed the build-out of a pilot production line for actuators at the Changwon plant in the first half," and added, "We are currently producing the first batch while verifying mass producibility and working to stabilize quality."
LG Electronics plans to gradually establish a mass-production system for actuators in line with the visibility of joint development and orders with customers. Yu said, "In the second half, we are introducing automated equipment and making additional infrastructure investments to secure stable quality," and added, "We are pursuing multifaceted collaboration, including joint development, not only with startups in Korea, Europe, and North America but also with major robot corporations."
