LG Electronics will build the entire value chain of its physical artificial intelligence (AI) business by expanding cooperation with domestic and overseas partners, including Nvidia and Chinese robotics corporations. The plan is to provide customized solutions that integrate everything from the development and manufacturing of robots and core components to data platforms, AI agents, and robot operating systems.
Bae Seok-hyeong, head of Robotics sales at LG Electronics, said on the 30th during the company's second-quarter earnings conference call, "The ultimate goal of LG Electronics' robotics business is to become a provider of customized physical AI solutions that integrate not only the development and production of robots and core components, but also data platforms, AI agents, and robot operating systems."
Bae said, "The newly established Robotics Business Center oversees the entire value chain of the robotics business, from identifying business opportunities and building and managing the supply chain to manufacturing and sales," adding, "Our goal is to consolidate dispersed core capabilities and establish a complete business structure."
Technologies from LG Group affiliates will also be consolidated. The plan is to create synergy in the physical AI business by leveraging EXAONE (LG AI Research), a large-scale AI model from LG AI Research Institute; LG CNS's software platform; LG Innotek's vision technology; and LG Energy Solution's battery capabilities.
Bae said, "We are accelerating collaboration among affiliates within the group to drive business expansion based on 'One LG,'" adding, "We are pursuing collaboration to generate tangible synergies by leveraging the group's competitiveness across the physical AI spectrum."
He added, "Externally, we are also materializing cooperation not only with global big tech, including Nvidia, but also with competitive Chinese Robotics corporations," noting, "As discussions with partners are ongoing, we will disclose additional details once they are finalized."
