Samsung Electronics said the share of server solid-state drives (SSD) in this year's NAND flash revenue is expected to exceed 60%. That would be more than a 20-percentage-point increase from a year earlier.
Samsung Electronics said on a conference call for second-quarter results on the 30th that "demand for server SSDs is surging across various markets, including artificial intelligence (AI) servers, general computing servers, and key-value and cache-only storage servers," adding, "the NAND business is also being reshaped into a high value-added business centered on server SSDs."
It added, "The share of server SSDs in our NAND revenue this year is expected to exceed 60%," and "that figure is more than 20 percentage points higher than a year earlier."
Samsung Electronics said NAND contributed a significant portion to the expansion of second-quarter memory results. It also said the PCIe 6.0 SSD it developed to meet demand for high-performance triple-level cell (TLC)-based storage secured positive performance assessments from major customers.
The company said, "By leading the early market for PCIe 6.0 SSDs for next-generation AI platforms, we expect to translate our solution capabilities into tangible business results."
