Korea Epson is accelerating its push into the domestic home projector market with premium home projectors that emphasize comfort for long hours of big‑screen viewing. Backed by the world's first Eye Comfort 5‑star certification and its in‑house "3LCD×3LED" triple‑core engine, the products enhance both picture quality and viewing convenience.
As content enjoyed at home diversifies—OTT (over‑the‑top) services, live sports broadcasts, console games, performance streaming—the home entertainment market is quickly shifting from TV‑centric to space‑centric. With growing demand to enjoy big‑screen content not only in living rooms but also in bedrooms, studies, and campgrounds, home projectors are expanding their role as lifestyle appliances.
In line with this shift, Korea Epson unveiled the Lifestudio sub‑brand for home projectors last year. The strategy is to redefine projectors from simple video output devices into home entertainment products that expand everyday content experiences.
The flagship EF‑72 and EF‑73 are premium home projectors that embody the Lifestudio brand philosophy. They enhance picture quality, sound, content accessibility, and installation convenience so users can enjoy movies, sports, and games on a big screen anywhere at home. In particular, the EF‑72 is designed with eye comfort in mind for long hours of big‑screen viewing.
◇ World's first Eye Comfort 5‑star certification… designed for long viewing sessions
The EF‑72 is the world's first projector to receive the Eye Comfort 5‑star certification from international testing and certification body TÜV Rheinland.
The Eye Comfort certification comprehensively evaluates the overall viewing experience—including blue light, screen flicker, picture quality, ambient‑light adaptability, and eye protection functions—and assigns ratings from 1 to 5 stars. As projectors newly became eligible for certification in 2025, the EF‑72 was the first to earn the top 5‑star rating.
Epson said it designed the product with visual comfort as well as crisp picture quality in mind, given that home projectors are often used to watch movies, drama, and sports for extended periods. The EF‑72 met strict certification standards, which the company said objectively recognizes its visual comfort.
◇ "3LCD×3LED" triple‑core engine… sharp even at 150 inches
At the core of its picture quality is the Triple‑Core Engine based on "3LCD×3LED," developed by Epson as a world first.
By combining Epson's proprietary 3LCD technology with an RGB three‑color LED light source, it delivers sharp images and rich colors even at up to 150 inches. It supports 4K PRO‑UHD resolution to capture fine details, and minimizes color loss even in bright living rooms so it can be used day or night.
Sound has also been enhanced. With "Sound by Bose" technology from global audio brand BOSE, it delivers rich audio without separate speakers.
Content accessibility is also improved. With Google TV OS built in, users can access OTT services without separate streaming devices and easily enjoy a wide range of content, including movies, drama, sports broadcasts, performances, and games.
As projector use expands from living rooms to bedrooms, studies, and campgrounds, installation convenience has been further strengthened.
When powered on, the EF‑72 and EF‑73 automatically focus and adjust the projection area to the surrounding environment. This reduces the hassle of manually correcting keystone distortion or leveling, allowing instant use anywhere in the home without separate settings.
They also support USB Type‑C connections, allowing easy hookup to various devices such as laptops and smartphones, and the EF‑73 adds wireless smartphone charging to boost everyday utility.
◇ Also works as an interior objet… evolving into a "lifestyle appliance"
As projectors become part of living spaces, design is emerging as a key competitive factor.
The EF‑72 uses a wood top plate and gray color to blend naturally with various interiors, while the EF‑73 reflects the recent "Quiet Luxury" interior trend with a black color scheme and a tempered‑glass top.
Both models support ambient lighting in four colors, so they can serve as mood lights when not displaying content. This considers their role as interior objets that shape the atmosphere of a space, beyond simply being video devices.
Korea Epson plans to step up its push into the premium home projector market with the Lifestudio brand as consumers demand more variety, not only in picture quality and sound, but also in comfort for long viewing, installation convenience, design, and spatial utility.
Kim Dae‑yeon, head of sales and marketing at Korea Epson, said, "The more diverse the home entertainment environment becomes, the more segmented the experiences consumers want." Kim added, "We will continue to roll out products tailored to various consumer lifestyles and deliver a differentiated home entertainment experience."
