SK hynix's enterprise solid-state drive (eSSD) sales in the second quarter of this year more than doubled from the previous quarter.
Song Hyun-jong, head of the Corporate Center at SK hynix (president), said on a conference call for second-quarter results held on the 29th, "eSSD sales more than doubled quarter over quarter," and noted, "Solidigm's high-capacity eSSD of 30 terabytes (TB) or more also expanded to more than three times the previous quarter."
He added, "The role of high-performance eSSDs is expanding to efficiently process AI outputs that are continuously generated," and explained, "A structural shift in demand is emerging in which AI memory and conventional memory grow together."
SK hynix's NAND shipments in the second quarter of this year increased by the mid-10% range from the previous quarter. The average selling price (ASP) rose by the mid-50% range on the back of strong prices across all products.
