The Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) said on the 28th they are calling for applications for the public evaluation panel of the "indigenous artificial intelligence (AI) foundation model (Dokpamo)" project.
Applications for the public evaluation panel can be submitted from that day through Aug. 4. To ensure representativeness, the ministry plans to recruit 200 members of the general public by setting gender- and age-based quotas according to resident registration population statistics.
The selected public evaluation panel will directly use and then evaluate (absolute evaluation) indigenous AI models from LG AI Research, Upstage, SK Telecom, and Motif Technologies from Aug. 8 to 11.
Dokpamo is a project in which the public and private sectors cooperate to develop an indigenous AI model at a global level. In the second-phase evaluation scheduled for next month, user evaluations involving the public panel will be conducted alongside benchmark evaluations and expert evaluations.
Through the second-phase evaluation, three out of four teams will be shortlisted. The ministry plans to finalize the top two teams by the end of the year and concentrate support for resources such as graphics processing units (GPUs).
