Koh Young Technology said on the 28th that it posted 88.8 billion won in revenue and 14.6 billion won in operating profit on a consolidation basis in the second quarter of this year. Revenue rose 70.4% from a year earlier, and operating profit increased 479.1%.
Both revenue and operating profit were the highest ever for a quarter. Koh Young said stronger demand for its three-dimensional (3D) precision measurement inspection equipment and physical AI solutions, driven by expanded investment in artificial intelligence (AI) server infrastructure, fueled the improved results. Application areas include application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), optical communication modules, high-speed network switches, and power modules.
Koh Young's physical AI solution analyzes inspection data with AI, reflects the results in production equipment, and automatically adjusts process conditions. The company said that as global AI server customers adopt more of its solutions, sales of related software and inspection equipment have increased together.
Revenue and operating profit have increased for four consecutive quarters. During this period, the average quarter-over-quarter growth rates were 14% for revenue and 46% for operating profit. By contrast, overseas market entry for the brain surgery medical robot is taking longer than initially expected. Koh Young has shipped a total of four units to hospitals in the United States and Japan so far, and it expected to recognize related revenue starting in the second half.
A Koh Young official said, "Demand for 3D precision measurement inspection equipment and physical AI solutions is strengthening as AI infrastructure expands," and added, "We expect the growth trend to continue in the second half."
