Pearl Abyss said on the 27th that Crimson Desert, the open-world action role-playing game (RPG) released in March, recorded the highest sales on Steam among new intellectual properties (IP) released this year.
According to global market research firm Alinea Analytics, Crimson Desert has generated more than $190 million (about 280 billion won) in sales on Steam since its March release. That is the third-highest sales among Steam games released this year, following "Forza Horizon 6" and "Resident Evil Requiem," and the figure was achieved without any discount promotions.
Crimson Desert sold 2 million copies in a day after launch, reached 5 million copies before a month had passed, and achieved 6 million copies sold in 83 days. Pearl Abyss recently said at a meeting for shareholders that it is developing DLC (downloadable content) for Crimson Desert and plans to announce the release schedule and details in the third quarter of this year.
Alinea Analytics said, "The performance Crimson Desert achieved as a new IP is even more meaningful."
