Sony Korea said on the 24th it will run the 2026 Meshimello Workshop, an information technology (IT) education program, with 10 college student supporters at 14 community child centers in Seoul and Daegu.
The workshop runs until Aug. 12. It consists of 12 basic sessions for elementary school students and two advanced sessions for middle school students, with college student supporters visiting the community child centers to teach.
The training uses the MESH Block, an Internet of Things (IoT) education tool developed through Sony's startup incubation program. Even without specialized programming knowledge, participants can make IoT devices by wirelessly linking the blocks.
The Meshimello Workshop is a social contribution program Sony Korea has run since 2018 with ChildFund Korea and the education institution Tide Institute. Sony Korea CEO Kitajima Yukihiro said, "We hope this will help children become more familiar with IoT technology and experience the joy of realizing their own ideas."
