Naver said on the 23rd that it will apply the smart building operations technology solution of its headquarters "1784" to the "Tokyo Midtown Yaesu" building, located in a core commercial district of Tokyo, in partnership with NTT East Japan and Mitsui Fudosan.
Naver will provide an integrated bundle of technology infrastructure used at 1784, including autonomous driving robots and a cloud robot control system, as well as a Digital Twin. Through this, Mitsui Fudosan will offer a robot delivery service at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu and manage integration with overall facilities, while NTT East Japan will handle building a Digital Twin environment and the maintenance and operations of delivery robots.
This case is the first commercial introduction to an external site of the smart building model that Naver has built and operated at 1784. The company said it is meaningful in that the technology has been optimized to provide seamless robot services even in ordinary buildings without smart facilities such as robot-dedicated elevators or special cloud environments.
Naver, NTT East Japan, and Mitsui Fudosan will first launch a cloud-based autonomous driving robot delivery service at Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. Because Tokyo Midtown Yaesu is a complex space where offices and commercial facilities coexist, like 1784, Naver's operational know-how and data from robot services accumulated over four years will be used.
At 1784, Naver has provided various robot delivery services while accumulating robot sensor data, spatial data, and service execution data. In particular, by using operational data in real physical environments—such as optimal routes by time of day and recurring exception scenarios—it has continually advanced robots' movement capabilities and service execution capabilities.
These services are implemented through tech convergence such as Robotics and cloud, and they have been deployed extensively in the Tokyo Midtown Yaesu building. Representative examples include: ▲ the indoor autonomous driving robot "Rookie" ▲ the multi-robot control system "ARC brain" ▲ Digital Twin ▲ the vision-based positioning technology "ARC eye."
Among them, ARC brain is an "orchestration platform" that integrally controls the routes and roles of multiple robots, functioning as an essential element for efficient service operations in large-scale spaces like Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. Through cloud processing, it links not only with robots but also with building facilities such as speed gates and elevators, helping robots interact with users in everyday spaces and operate without interruption.
Naver, Mitsui Fudosan, and NTT East Japan plan to identify diverse use cases and scale up the robot delivery service, while expanding the scope of collaboration into various physical AI fields such as indoor AR navigation and Digital Twin–based building management.
This project is led by the Naver Cloud Japan business development department and promoted using Naver Labs' robotics and vision technologies. Naver plans to further advance core technologies so that seamless robot services can be provided in various buildings regardless of facility environments, and to apply the 1784 model to multiple sites at home and abroad.
