LG Display said it will respond to growth in the smartphone OLED business by increasing utilization of its existing production lines in step with expanding market share while also reviewing investments in new technologies.
LG Display said on the 22nd during its second-quarter earnings conference call, "We are steadily expanding our market share in smartphone panels based on overwhelming technological competitiveness and product reliability," adding, "To respond in a timely manner to rising demand, we plan to make full use of our existing production infrastructure while closely reviewing and executing preemptive investments in new technologies."
Addressing higher component prices, including semiconductors, and macroeconomic uncertainty, the company noted, "This is an issue recognized across the industry, and the company is fully aware of the concerns," while emphasizing, "We will maintain solid profitability through technology-based cost innovation and improved production and operation efficiency."
It added, "Through new technology development, we will help customers secure competitiveness for new models and further solidify the technology barrier in the smartphone OLED field."
