Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics received the Energy Winner of the Year awards for home appliances and heating and cooling products that apply AI-based power-saving features and high-efficiency technologies. Samsung Electronics won in 10 institutional sectors, including the grand Energy Award for the eighth straight year, while LG Electronics received 12 top prizes in total, including three grand prizes.
Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics said on the 21st that multiple products won at the 29th Energy Winner of the Year awards hosted by the Consumers Union of Korea and sponsored by the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment and the Korea Energy Agency (KEA). Samsung Electronics won the grand Energy Award, the Minister's Award, the Energy Technology Award, and seven Energy Winner awards. LG Electronics won three grand prizes, two Energy Technology Awards, and seven Energy Winner awards.
Samsung Electronics received the grand Energy Award and the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment Minister's Award for its Bespoke AI WindFree Combo Gallery Pro air conditioner. It is the eighth consecutive year since 2019 that Samsung Electronics has won the grand Energy Award.
Using a motion radar, the product detects the user's activity level and presence to lower cooling power or turn off the unit with its "absence power saving" feature. Under Samsung Electronics' test standards, it reduces energy use by up to 42%. The "comfortable dehumidification" feature, which controls refrigerant based on humidity, cuts energy use by up to 30% compared with the existing dehumidification mode.
The Infinite Line hood-integrated induction cooktop won the Energy Technology Award. It delivers up to 7,400 watts (W) of heat output when all burners are used simultaneously while achieving Grade 1 energy efficiency. A hood is built into the center of the induction cooktop, and an air quality sensor detects total volatile organic compounds (TVOC) to automatically adjust suction power.

LG Electronics received grand prizes for the LG Whisen AI Objet Collection Tower I air conditioner, the LG ePaper display, and the upcoming LG Dios AI Objet Collection dishwasher. The company extended its streak as the most-awarded in the industry for 10 consecutive years through this year.
The LG Whisen AI Objet Collection Tower I received both a grand prize and the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment Minister's Award. With the "AI Cold-Free" feature that controls temperature and humidity together and high-efficiency indoor and outdoor unit technologies, it improved cooling efficiency by up to 13% compared with products of the same cooling capacity. The company said electricity bills can be reduced by up to 11.5%.
The LG ePaper display was selected for a grand prize and the Korea Energy Agency (KEA) President's Award. As a commercial display that maintains the screen even when power supply is cut off, it reduced power consumption by more than 99% compared with existing digital signage.
The LG Dios AI Objet Collection dishwasher became the first dishwasher to receive a grand prize since the Energy Winner awards began in 1997. With new drying technology and an improved internal structure, it reduced electricity use by about 10% and water use by about 18% compared with existing products. The wash cycle time was also shortened by about 24 minutes.
LG Electronics won the Energy Technology Award for its ice-making water purifier and refrigerator. Seven products, including heat pumps, wall-mounted and system air conditioners, a washer-dryer, a clothing care appliance, and a water purifier, were also selected for Energy Winner awards.
